Building Partnerships
The PCA recently hosted its annual Business Conference at the Brit Oval
on the 24th April. Now in its second year, the event attracted over 300
delegates from a
wide variety of backgrounds and industries and 27 exhibiting companies.
The aim of the conference was to promote the benefits of building
partnerships between business and sport, denonstrating to the delegates
how each could influence and benefit the other.
Speakers included Sir John Major, Martin Bell, the former BBC Foreign
Affairs Correspondent, actor and Prince’s Trust Ambassador Colin
Salmon, Vodafone’s Chief Executive Gavin Darby, Simon Meade – the
former senior director of the Red Arrows, Dr Steve Bull – the Team
England psychologist and David Ford, the
former Chief Executive of Regus, while the role of MC was taken by John
Inverdale.
The event’s sponsors, Regus, Vodafone, Jardine Lloyd Thompson,
Accenture, Lees Lloyd Whitley, the Financial Times, Volkswagen and Cricinfo,
are all companies who have already recognised the benefits of building
partnerships with sport and embracing sporting principles.
The day was
a great success and the PCA hopes that the Annual Conference will continue
to grow and flourish as we look forward to repeating the event in 2007. |

Under the hammer
The PCA Benevolent fund was kindly given the opportunity to raise money
by holding an auction at the Financial Director’s Excellence Awards
on 6th April at the Hilton, Park Lane.
Bob ‘the cat’ Bevan was the ever entertaining auctioneer
for the night, which helped raise over £8,000 for the Fund. The
PCA would like to thank Mike Bokaie and his team at Caspian Publishing
for this fundraising opportunity.
