England Players support Wells for India projects

During the ODI tour of India, Team England met with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall to lend their support to the Wells for India charity. The charity is dedicated to the provision of sufficient clean water in Rajasthan, an area where several of the one-day games took place. The PCA donated £5,000 to the project, which was received by programme manager, Om Prakash Sharma, who commented “I am delighted to be in attendance and accept this cheque on behalf of the charity. We are very grateful for the continued support of Team England and the PCA.”

Players Dig Deep for NatWest CricketForce 2006

Recently returned from their Test debuts in India, it was back to club cricket for Alastair Cook and Monty Panesar as they were welcomed back to the UK to participate in the NatWest Cricket Force weekend. Their presence at the launch event at Upminster CC in Essex boosted the numbers of volunteers who had turned out to help with renovations at the club. In a Ground Force meets Changing Rooms style event, the members of the Essex club dug deep to build a new car park, re-paint the pavilion and undertake a new net project.

NatWest CricketForce is the biggest volunteering event in sport, involving1,050 clubs and 70,000 volunteers. The support of county clubs and England stars encouraged members to turn out and support local initiatives. Simon Jones was seen in Glamorgan kit at St Fagans CC in Cardiff – refurbishing the bar, painting sightscreens and installing the new electronic scoreboard.

The PCA and Team England continue to support the NatWest CricketForce with players turning out nationwide and selected clubs receiving items of Team England memorabilia.

Goughy launches new Oliver Sweeney shoe

Earlier this month, Darren Gough headed north to attend the new Oliver Sweeney store opening in Leeds. On the back of his Strictly Come Dancing success, Goughy’s twinkle toes have become hot property – so much so that they became the ‘face’ of the new Everyman shoe at the Leeds launch.

Featuring the England team’s signatures, this is a shoe in demand which brings out the model in all owners (see picture!). From every pair of the limited edition shoes purchased, a donation will be made to the Everyman charity and the PCA Benevolent Fund.
